Resources I Recommend

I love to read. I love to learn. And I love talking about what I'm reading and learning with the people around me! So I've created a catalog of books, films, podcasts, and the like to share my recommendations with all of y'all!

This project began as a reference for books and films challenging white Christian nationalism with my congregation, but it's grown from that scope to include resources around prophetic imagination, gender + sexuality, and fiction that helps me dream about liberation. There are books on history and politics, as well as poetry and memoir and pastoral care. This will be a dynamic catalog, changing and growing as I grow and change with the learning that comes from these other thinkers. One of my favorite novelists is Octavia Butler and in her work "Parable of the Sower" she writes:

All that you touch you change

All that you change, changes you

The only lasting truth is change

God is change.

This theology of change reminds me that we are not self-created beings. We are co-created. We are made and remade over and over again by one another and this is a gift of our humanity! We live and move and have our being in community with God and each other. What a delight and blessing that we can be changed by one another and learn and grow.
